Business Process Automation & Improvement
Remove duplicated work and standardize handoffs before any tool gets introduced.
What is business process automation consulting?
Business process automation consulting means examining a recurring administrative process end to end, removing steps that duplicate each other, standardizing the handoffs between people, and then automating the parts that are stable and rule-based. The goal is fewer manual touches and fewer exceptions — not automating a broken process faster. Some steps are better fixed, simplified, or left to a person.
Where recurring admin work leaks time
- The same information is entered into two or three places
- Work waits in an inbox because nobody owns the next step
- Every month the report is rebuilt from scratch instead of refreshed
- Exceptions are handled differently depending on who catches them
- The process changed but the documentation never did
How the process gets standardized
First the current process is documented step by step: who touches it, what file or system each step uses, what triggers the next handoff, and where it stalls. Then we separate the stable rule-based portion from the judgment portion. The stable portion becomes templates, naming conventions, standard inputs, and automation. The judgment portion becomes a short, explicit review step with a named owner.
Exception handling is the real design work
Most automation projects fail on the five percent of cases that do not fit. So exceptions get designed first: what counts as an exception, how it is flagged, who reviews it, and what happens after review. A workflow that routes its exceptions cleanly is more valuable than one that claims to handle everything.
Automation is not always the answer
If a process runs twice a year, or changes every quarter, or depends on a negotiation, automating it costs more than it returns. In those cases the deliverable is a better SOP, a fixed template, or a simpler sequence of steps. That recommendation is part of the work, not a failure of it.
Availability
Engagements run on-site across Corona, the Inland Empire, Orange County, and greater Southern California, and remotely elsewhere. Work is delivered in English or Spanish.
